Unique Australian Timber
We make our specialty timber veneers in-house from trees we source from local arborists, giving us direct control over the process from start to finish.
Not only does this mean we get to use native Australian, non-plantation species, but we can also preserve all the beautiful natural features that would usually be discarded due to the complexity they add to the curing and veneering process.
The thick timber veneers for each pair of Kingfisher Audio speakers are purposefully selected and marked out one at a time to create one-off designs with each speaker being the mirror image of its companion.
Although we tend to photograph the most unique/ striking pieces, not all our veneers have complex grain or features, sometimes visual simplicity is best.
Why veneers?
Timber moves and warps as it reacts to changes in atmospheric moisture. By vacuum pressing our 3mm thick veneers to a stable substrate, we can create extremely stable cabinets that will last a lifetime.
Veneers are also a much more efficient way of using timber. Each tree is very valuable in our eyes, having spent decades growing in someone’s backyard, being a home for wildlife or creating shade in a park. By making our own veneers we can get the most out of a limited and unique resource.
